    This golf course orginally opened in 1899. Play was suspended during the First World War and the course was badly damaged at that time. After the War, a new course was built and in 1925, through the good offices of the then president, Sir Maurice Lippens, His Majesty the King graciously allowed the Club to assume the title of 'Royal Zoute Golf Club'. The professionals are unanimous in considering Royal Zoute as one of the most outstanding ones on the continent.
